Low Voltage Power Carrier Communication: A Low Cost And Expandable Solution
The main effort involved in the deployment is the installation of the AMR system over each power transformation subnet. By using low voltage power carrier communication solution, the deployment and configuration of the system is simplified. Using RU Reading Module makes the solution a zero engineering system. It is easy to expand the system functions and increase the number of meters.
Carrier Uses Spectrum For Power Companies
The signal uses the bandwidth within 9 kHz and 95 kHz. User is ensured to have no other interference in this spectrum.
Bi-directional Carrier Communications Enable Implementation Of Arrearage Indication and Other Functions
There is an 'Arrearage Indication' button in the application software on the host station. By clicking on this button, the user is able to trigger arrearage indication on specific RU / DCT via the DC. In fact, such function can be used for other purposes like power cutoff warning and power bill notification.
Reliable Security Measure To Protect The System And User From Attack
Archnet AMR System has 3 types of security and prevention facility to prevent user's existing accounting and management systems from attack.
Data Transmission Over Power Line Uses Archnet's Proprietary Encryption Technology.     Tapping of Information From The Power Line Is Impossible
Host station and DC communicates mostly use public telephone network. Our system employs advanced standard encryption software for data transfer. In addition, the encryption software can be upgraded, thus making it convenient for users to change to suit future needs.
The application software is designed with 2 levels password, i.e. operator level and supervisor level. System operators are restricted to data collection, while supervisors are allowed to modify the system parameters. Other personnel are not allowed to operate the system.
DC's large storage capacity reduces the operating frequency of the host station.
The DC in Archnet AMR System centers on an industrial controller. High capacity solid-state disk stores all types of data, thus reduces the frequency of communicating with the host station. This is especially important to practical application because in a high capacity metering deployment, the host station is not able to talk to every DC within a short period of time. This means that the DC will have to store large amount of historical data in order to reduce the load on the host station.
Standardization of Data Form Used In DC Ensures Compatibility With Other System.
It is inevitable that standardization will take place as metering development progresses. One of the consequences is the ability of a single or multiple host station to manage subsystems from various suppliers. There is then a need for the data format to be standardized. This is difficult to achieve using simple dedicated device. Archnet AMR System uses industrial controller as data processing unit for the DC to simplify the approach to the standardization issue.
Meter Change Support
The system can support the replacement of meter by user. When an operating meter is replaced or when a new meter is added, users only need to send the parameters of the new and old meters to the DC to prevent the loss of power consumption data. In fact, the system has the ability to automatically detect additional or replaced meter. However, replacing an operating meter will result in the loss of previous power consumption data that is recorded on the original meter. Hence, users are reminded to be cautious about it.
Compatible To Water And Gas Meter Reading
As long as water and gas meter fulfill the necessary conditions (e.g., pulse output), and with the permission from system users, the system can be expanded to accommodate the reading of water and gas meters.
